O Holy Night

Alyssa played in a piano recital three days before Christmas. The song she and her teacher picked? "O Holy Night". It was an extremely difficult arrangment but Alyssa was determined to play it for her performance.

Her teacher planned a contest between the students. Whoever practiced the most would win a gift card to Old Navy. Alyssa wanted the card, so between that and her determination to play this piece, we heard "O Holy Night" a lot. We knew every nuance, every phrase and every note by heart.

Fortunately, Kalie and Kevin came into town for Christmas the day before the recital so they were able to attend.

As a family we decided to go to Zeponie's pizza for dinner and then go to the Centerville Library for the recital. The pizza was fantastic and put us in the right frame of mind for beautiful music.

The winner of the Old Navy Gift Card? Alyssa. She practiced over 2500 minutes from the first of September until the recital.

Alyssa with her piano teacher, Sheila. She picked such great music for the recital.

This is a small portion of Alyssa's piece. The actual piece lasted almost 7 minutes. It had to be completely memorized and played to the teacher's satisfaction. Alyssa did a great job.

She's great! She's been hiding her talent in Young Womens. Who knew she was so good?
